Auctions
Public auction offers the most accepted venue to market fine art, antiques, and collectibles, and is the preferred method of disposition by most of our clients. A competitive auction climate is the true test of fair market value, and offers the seller the possibility of good “upside potential” sale prices. Collectors, dealers, and institutions compete for great items and the results can readily surpass presale estimates.
After decisions have been made as to what a family may wish to keep, the question arises, “What is the best way to sell the rest of the property?” We buy nothing outright from clients, but rather sit side-by-side with the same interest in realizing the most we can for whatever we have to sell. As a result, we operate a little differently than the typical regional auctioneer.
We place property for sale in the most appropriate of three auction venues:
First, we offer the option of sending important higher end property to Live Auction Salesrooms in New York. With placement in the most knowledgeable and sophisticated market, major works of art will be guaranteed the exposure needed to attain the best possible price.
We conduct semi-annual online auctions on iGavelAuctions.com, with public exhibitions held in Western North Carolina. After years of conducting successful online sales through Sothebys.com during their partnerships with both Amazon and eBay, we chose iGavel as our online sale venue. Comprised of former Sothebys.com Associates, iGavel features fine art, antiques, and collectibles with guarantees of authenticity and condition so buyers can bid with confidence. The process is completely transparent and can be followed by both Executors and the family anywhere in the world via computer. iGavel offers searchable listings, an online archive of all items sold on the site, and extended bidding that eliminates sniping. Lastly, we arrange with regional auction associates for the sale and removal of any residue property unsuitable for sale on iGavel, leaving the premises broom swept and in order.
We are always accepting consignments for upcoming auctions. If you have something you would like to sell at auction please contact us by email with an image attached if possible. We will gladly respond with an estimate and reserve price if it is appropriate material for our sales.
